An eighteenth century hand-coloured copperplate engraving of Orchis conopsea or the Aromatic Orchis. This is plate number 10 from the book 'English Botany' by James Sowerby, signed by Sowerby and dated 1791. In very good condition, minimal surface marks. Mounted in acid free materials ready to display or add to a collection, plate area is approx. 17.5 by 9.5 cm, in a 10 x 8 " mount.
