An eighteenth century hand-coloured copperplate engraving of Primula veris or Common Cowslip. This is plate number 5 from the book 'English Botany' by James Sowerby, signed by Sowerby and dated 1791. In good condition, some surface marks and area of blue staining bottom right. Mounted in acid free materials ready to display or add to a collection, plate area is approx. 17.5 by 9.5 cm, in a 10 x 8 " mount.
